The world's first organized racing competition was held in 1894. The winning car in that race kept an average speed of 24 km/h. Today, an Indycar keeps an average speed of 331km/h whilst in a race. As the sport has evolved the cars have changed. At the speed the cars reach today, they are subjects to extreme tension. Therefore there are great demands on the materials used to cope with the increases in power and speed of racing cars.

But not only have the cars changed. Since the drivers are exposed to more extreme conditions there are also higher demands on the helmets. Not only must they hold for the immense conditions, it’s necessary that the driver has a clear sight. In the early racing history, the drivers used firefighter helmets instead of racing helmets because they gave better protection. Today, helmets are far more developed to protect the driver. This is where we retrieved our inspiration for Racing Shield. This is not just because it’s the most durable material in racing, it’s also optically clear and hardly noticeable.

WE SPENT YEARS DEVELOPING AND TESTING.

At Racing Shield we have spent years developing and testing these same materials in order to make them the perfect match for your electrical device. The materials we found in racing has the best performance in terms of scratch and impact resistance, while simultaneously being optically clear thus having no impact on the clarity of the driver’s view. However, using it on different parts of a racing car is not the same as being applied to an electrical device’s screen. The material needs to not interfere with the screen’s touch recognition, transmission of light and the contrast of color. The brightness must be maintained, and the adhesive must not compromise your device.
